"Hello, my husband and I are citizens of the USA. We are in our mid 60’s, and are exploring the possibilities of retiring in China. I am Chinese born in Hong Kong, and left for the US in my early 20’s. I had only visited southern China more than 15 years ago. My husband is Caucasian American who has never visited Asia. Due to lack of use, my Cantonese, oral, writing and reading will take a while to be fluent again. We are excited to take on the challenges of learning Mandarin as a new language and navigating all the advanced technology in China. We are planning a trip to China around Spring or summer of 2025. My first step is to renew my Hong Kong ID card and my husband can’t wait to taste all the authentic Chinese food as he is fascinated by all things Asian." - RedK

"Greetings, all . . . I'm an American, married to a Chinese national, living in Indiana. I'm going to retire in 2 years, and want to move to Chengdu, my wife's home. She's a Conditional Resident of the U.S. now, but I understand that if she's out of the U.S. for more than 6 months, the U.S. govt might revoke her residency status. Is this the case? Is there anyone here who can advise me whether we can live in China and return to the U.S. a couple of times a year to visit the relatives? Or must we live in the U.S., and not be gone for more than a couple of months at a time? Thanks for any help you can give." - Clint85
