Beach   Coastal   Beaches

Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches, and coral reefs. It is part of the Indonesian archipelago and is located in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. The island is renowned for its highly developed arts, including traditional and modern dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking, and music. The provincial capital, Denpasar, is the most populous city in the Lesser Sunda Islands and the second-largest in Eastern Indonesia after Makassar. Bali's tourism-centric economy has made it one of Indonesia's wealthiest regions. The island's spirituality is also a significant draw, with its many Hindu temples, ceremonies, and rituals. Bali's natural attractions include majestic waterfalls, serene lakes, and breathtaking stretches of coastline. The island's central highlands feature the town of Ubud, which is considered the cultural heart of Bali and is famous for its crafts and dance. The surrounding Ubud District’s rainforest and terraced rice paddies, dotted with Hindu temples and shrines, are among Bali’s most famous landscapes. The island's southern beaches offer a contrast with Kuta's lively bars, while Seminyak, Sanur, and Nusa Dua are popular resort towns. The island is also known for its yoga and meditation retreats.
