About the School
British School of Sofia is the only accredited British School Overseas (BSO) in
Bulgaria, recognised by the Department for Education of the United Kingdom. Due to the diverse range of students' nationalities and backgrounds, BSS has successfully implemented several educational programmes based on the British National Curriculum.

In the Primary and Lower Secondary School, the students follow the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) programs from Grades 1 to 6 and the Cambridge Lower Secondary and International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in Grades 7 & 8.
Students in Grades 9 & 10 follow the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and in Grades 11 & 12 the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

Lego, Robotics, Chess, Archery, Fencing, Modern Dance, Field Hockey, Vocal Group, Piano and Taekwondo.
IB Programs
The three programmes of IB for students aged 16 to 19 help them develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalising world. Through the IB Diploma Programme, students gain rigorous and balanced academic preparation, an ability to draw on knowledge and understanding of various cultures and histories, and the experience of learning how to think critically and apply what they have learned in different contexts and across disciplines.
The IB Diploma Program's challenging curriculum educates the whole student, developing the capacity for inquiry, research, and problem-solving as well as essential skills for communication and collaboration. Based on their experiences, IB students possess a broader range of skills that enhance their ability to adapt and contribute to university life. IB students demonstrate a level of emotional and intellectual maturity for managing the demands of challenging coursework and make meaningful contributions. Participation in the IB Diploma Programme shows that students have excelled in multiple and diverse academic challenges and is a strong predictor for success in university. The Diploma Program students score higher than students in other national systems, and the IB score applies worldwide the same criteria for academic performance. The IB Career-related Programme prepares students to follow their chosen pathways in life
