12 Tips for Living in Panama
By Kevans61
Expat Life in Panama
The cost of living is cheap compared to other countries. Example we are in Chiriqui, Volcan. We were also living in Puerto Armuelles. The gas for cooking is around 7 dollars for a 5 gallon tank. It last about 2 months. The water is not metered and is about 5 a month in Puerto you use air conditioning so the electricity is higher 125 a month depending. But in Volcan its virtual springtime so you don't need air or heat.
Cost of Living in Panama
You an rent a home for under 500 a month. Utilities are cheap, food is also cheap. Maybe 50 every two, weeks maybe 100 for, 2 people to, eat well.
Local Clubs and Organizations
No real social clubs maybe they start a club but it may or may not last. In Boquete there are more cultural events so I am told.
International Schools in Panama
There is one in Volcan each year they add a grade. I don't have school age children and most expats with children home school.
Shopping in Panama
There is a Pricesmart like Costcos and the local chain Romeros has most anything you would need.
Public Transportation
Bus system is good and safe and cheap. There a schedule. Taxis are also cheap.
Climate
Volcan spring like weather all year around. Puerto Armuelles is hot and humid and your on the P.acific Ocean..
Restaurants and Nightlife
With the Pandemic many have closed down and may or may not reopen.
What are local hospitals and emergency services like?
Public and private hospitals. I was hospitalized and my insurance coveted it. It is very cheap. The care is better in Colombia. s.A
