When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Kyrgyzstan, they said:
"I recommend living in the city of Bishkek. Everything is in walking distance and there are nice parks," explained one expat living in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
"Expats should be aware that Kyrgyzstan is a predominantly Muslim country and that they should respect local customs and traditions. It is also important to note that Kyrgyzstan is a cash-based economy, so it is important to have access to cash when needed. Expats should also be aware that the country has a harsh climate, with cold winters and hot summers, so they should be prepared for the weather. Additionally, expats should be aware that the country has a high crime rate, so they should take extra precautions when travelling. Finally, expats should be aware that the country has a limited infrastructure, so they should be prepared for a slower pace of life," said one expat in Kyrgyzstan.

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

If you have not spent a lot of time in Kyrgyzstan, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:
"Buying a home in Kyrgyzstan can be a great investment, as the country is known for its low cost of living and attractive real estate prices. However, it is important to consider the long-term implications of buying a home in Kyrgyzstan, such as the cost of maintenance and upkeep, as well as the potential for appreciation or depreciation in the value of the property. Renting a home in Kyrgyzstan can be a great option for those who are not ready to commit to a long-term purchase, as it allows for more flexibility and the ability to move quickly if needed. Finally, it is important to bring a valid passport and any necessary visas or permits," said one expat in Kyrgyzstan.
"I wish I had brought more of: my favorite beauty/toiletry items, non-perishable food/sauce mixes, coffee I wish I had left at home: my good shoes, pasta (there is plenty over here), skirts," said one expat who made the move to Bishkek.

How are healthcare services Kyrgyzstan?
When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Kyrgyzstan, they replied:
"Kyrgyzstan has a public healthcare system that provides basic medical services to its citizens. The quality of public healthcare in Kyrgyzstan is generally considered to be below average, with limited access to specialized care and modern medical equipment. Foreign residents are able to access the public healthcare system, but the quality of care is not as good as in other countries. Expats in Kyrgyzstan typically use private healthcare services, which offer better quality care and more specialized services. However, some expats may use the public healthcare system if they are unable to access private services or if they are unable to afford the cost of private care," wrote one expat living in Kyrgyzstan.
