"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Uganda is to search online for rental listings. There are many websites that list available properties in Uganda, such as Jumia House, Property24, and Private Property. Additionally, you can search for rental listings on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. You can also contact local real estate agents who can help you find a suitable property. Additionally, you can ask friends and family who live in Uganda for recommendations. Finally, you can also look for rental listings in local newspapers and magazines," said one person in Uganda.
What do I need to know before moving to Uganda?
When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Uganda, they said:
"Before retiring in Uganda, expats should research the cost of living in the area they plan to live in. They should also familiarize themselves with the local culture and customs, as well as the language. It is important to understand the healthcare system and to make sure that they have access to quality medical care. Additionally, expats should research the local job market and the availability of recreational activities. Finally, they should make sure to obtain the necessary visas and permits to live and work in Uganda," said one person in Uganda.

What do people find most challenging about the culture in Uganda?

"If you plan to stay in Uganda for an extended period of time, you will need to obtain a valid residence permit or visa. Depending on the length of your stay, you may need to apply for a temporary residence permit or a long-term residence permit. You may also need to apply for a work permit if you plan to work in Uganda. The quality of public healthcare in Uganda is generally considered to be low, with limited access to medical supplies and equipment, and a shortage of qualified medical personnel. Foreign residents in Uganda have limited access to the public healthcare system, and must often rely on private healthcare providers for medical care. Expats in Uganda may use the public healthcare system if they are able to obtain a valid health insurance card, however, the quality of care is often lower than that of private healthcare providers," explained one digital nomad living in Uganda.

What are the pros and cons of living in Uganda?
"The town appears nice to visitors but it has a lot of hidden and underlying issues. I don't recommend moving and living here," said one foreigner in Jinja.
