Additionally, many expats join expat-specific clubs and organizations, such as the Cyprus Expat Network, which provides a platform for expats to connect and share experiences. Other ways that expats meet people in Cyprus include attending local festivals and events, joining local sports teams, and attending church services. Additionally, many expats find it helpful to join online forums and social media groups related to their interests," said one expat in Cyprus.
"Cyprus is a free and easy place where 90 percent speak English. Most of Cyprus life reveolves around small cafes and bars," remarked one member in Limassol.

"Life for expats and digital nomads in Cyprus is generally quite pleasant. The country has a warm climate, beautiful beaches, and a relaxed atmosphere. Expats and digital nomads can find plenty of activities to keep them busy, from exploring the ancient ruins to enjoying the vibrant nightlife. The cost of living is relatively low, making it an attractive destination for those looking to stretch their budget. The locals are friendly and welcoming, making it easy to settle in and make new friends. "Most lives revolve around the family. The work ethic is non-existant. After an hours work they need an hours break to recompose themselves. For sun, sand and rest it is ideal. For business it is a joke," said one expat who made the move to Limassol.

"I lived in the area for 3 months trying to decide where I would choose to by my house. I found my house through an estate agent," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Frenaros.
"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Cyprus is to search online for rental listings. Websites such as Airbnb, HomeAway, and Expedia offer a variety of rental options in Cyprus. Additionally, you can search for rental listings on local classifieds websites such as Cyprus Property Finder and Cyprus Property World. You can also contact local real estate agents who specialize in rental properties in Cyprus. Finally, you can also ask friends and family who live in Cyprus for recommendations," explained one person living in Cyprus.
What do I need to know before moving to Cyprus?
When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Cyprus, they said:
"Before retiring in Cyprus, expats should research the cost of living in the area they plan to live in, as well as the availability of healthcare and other services. It is also important to understand the local laws and regulations, as well as the tax implications of living in Cyprus. Additionally, expats should familiarize themselves with the culture and customs of the country, as well as the language. "The friendliness and generosity of the people. The culture is very family-oriented and as such, it is a very safe and joyful place to live. The pace of life is more relaxed. As the Greeks say, siga siga (slowly slowly)," said one expat in Frenaros.
What do people find most challenging about the culture in Cyprus?
"There are many Cypriots who are not animal lovers and because there is a lareg population of homeless dogs and cats on the island, sometime you see animal cruelty. This saddens me," explained one expat living in Frenaros, Cyprus.
"Expats in Cyprus often find the local culture to be quite different from what they are used to. The language barrier can be a challenge, as Greek is the official language and English is not widely spoken. Additionally, the local customs and traditions can be difficult to understand and navigate. Expats may also find the pace of life to be slower than what they are accustomed to, as well as the lack of public transportation in some areas. Finally, the hot and humid climate can be a challenge for those who are not used to it," said one person in Cyprus.
What residency documents or visas did I need if I will be in Cyprus for a while?
"If you plan to stay in Cyprus for a while, you will need to apply for a residence permit. Depending on the length of your stay, you may need to apply for a long-term residence permit or a permanent residence permit. You may also need to apply for a visa if you are from a country that requires one for entry into Cyprus," explained one person living in Cyprus.
"It was easy to retire here. and it is a lot easier now as time has progressed. You have to prove an income to support yourself and family. Take out health care cover. Now there is free NHS type health care cover. There is now a system Citizens Advice Centres in each Town/City. The give all assisitance and help to fill in the various forms that are required to retire here," said one expat in Poli Chrystopiou.
