What are healthcare services like in Armenia?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Armenia, they replied:

"Healthcare services in Armenia are provided by both public and private institutions. The public healthcare system is funded by the government and is available to all citizens and foreign residents. The quality of public healthcare is generally good, with a wide range of services available, including primary care, specialist care, and hospital services. Expats in Armenia can access the public healthcare system, although they may need to pay for some services. Expats can also use private healthcare services, which are often more expensive but may offer a higher quality of care," explained one expat living in Armenia.

What have your experiences during the pandemic with the local healthcare system been like?

We asked expats in Armenia if they have access to public healthcare in Armenia. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"The pandemic has had a significant impact on the healthcare system in Armenia. The government has implemented a number of measures to protect the population, including the introduction of a nationwide lockdown, the closure of schools and universities, and the suspension of public transport. The healthcare system has also been affected, with hospitals and clinics facing increased demand for services and a shortage of medical supplies. The government has responded by providing additional funding to the healthcare system and introducing new measures to ensure the safety of healthcare workers. Despite these efforts, the healthcare system has been overwhelmed by the pandemic, leading to long wait times for appointments and delays in the delivery of medical services," commented a person living in Armenia.
