Belarus also has a number of specialized medical centers that provide specialized treatments such as oncology, cardiology, and neurology. Additionally, Belarus has a number of private medical facilities that offer a range of services, including cosmetic surgery, dentistry, and alternative medicine," said one digital nomad in Belarus.
Are healthcare and health insurance expensive in Belarus?
"Healthcare and health insurance in Belarus are generally considered to be quite affordable. The government provides free healthcare to all citizens, and private health insurance is also available at a relatively low cost. "Emergency services in Belarus are provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In the event of an emergency, the public can call the emergency number 112 to request an ambulance. The ambulance service is free of charge and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ambulance service is staffed by trained medical personnel and is equipped with the necessary medical equipment to provide emergency medical care," explained one expat living in Belarus.
Will I need to travel to see a specialist?
"Minsk is the capital of Belarus and is home to some of the best medical specialists in the country. The city has a wide range of medical facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and specialized medical centers. Other cities in Belarus with a good selection of medical specialists include Brest, Grodno, and Gomel. Additionally, the towns of Vitebsk and Mogilev are known for their excellent medical services," explained one expat living in Belarus.
Are common prescription medications available in Belarus?
"Prescription medications are available in Belarus, and the country has a well-developed pharmaceutical industry. Most medications that are available in other countries are also available in Belarus, including both generic and brand-name drugs. Pharmacies in Belarus are required to carry a wide range of medications, and many of them offer online ordering and delivery services. In addition, the government provides subsidies for certain medications, making them more affordable for those who need them," said a member in Belarus.

"The pandemic has had a significant impact on the healthcare system in Belarus. The government has implemented a number of measures to try to contain the spread of the virus, including restrictions on movement, the closure of schools and businesses, and the introduction of mandatory mask-wearing. Despite these measures, the healthcare system has been overwhelmed by the number of cases, leading to long waiting times for medical appointments and a shortage of medical supplies. In addition, the government has been accused of downplaying the severity of the pandemic, leading to a lack of public trust in the healthcare system," explained one digital nomad living in Belarus.
