Real Estate in Arizona

By Joshua Wood, LPC

Last updated on Feb 21, 2023

Summary: A newcomer to Arizona should begin their search by researching the different cities and neighborhoods in the state. They should consider factors such as cost of living, job opportunities, and school districts. Once they have narrowed down their search, they should contact a local real estate agent to help them find the perfect home. Homes in Arizona typically include amenities such as air conditioning, swimming pools, and outdoor living spaces. Many homes also feature modern kitchens, spacious bedrooms, and updated bathrooms. Depending on the area, some homes may also include additional features such as a garage, a patio, or a backyard.

What do I need to know when buying property in Arizona?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Arizona, they said:

"Before buying property in Arizona, it is important to understand the specific purchasing process, local zoning laws and other applicable regulations. You should research the neighborhoods in which you are interested in buying and consider the local school districts and other resources that may affect your decision. Additionally, consider all associated costs, including closing costs, property tax, insurance and repairs. Be sure to hire a qualified real estate lawyer to assist with the transaction, review the contract and handle the closing. Finally, understand the risks associated with buying a property in a state where it does not rain often," explained one person living in Arizona.
