Additionally, you can contact local real estate agents who can help you find a suitable place to live. You can also look for rental postings in local newspapers and on bulletin boards in the area. Additionally, you can ask friends and family who live in the area for recommendations," remarked one member in Antigua & Barbuda.

What is a typical expat home or apartment like in Antigua & Barbuda?

"Expat homes and apartments in Antigua & Barbuda are typically modern and spacious, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Many of the homes and apartments have balconies or terraces with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. The interiors are often decorated with bright colors and tropical accents, and the kitchens are usually well-equipped with modern appliances. Expats can also find a variety of amenities in their homes and apartments, such as air conditioning, cable TV, and high-speed internet," explained one expat living in Antigua & Barbuda.

"When buying property in Antigua & Barbuda, it's important to be aware of the various laws and regulations governing land ownership in the region. It is essential to hire a reputable lawyer who is familiar with local laws to assist with the process. It's important to make sure the title to the property is valid and that there are no disputes over ownership. Additionally, it's recommended to research the market and ensure that the price being paid is fair and reasonable. Before purchasing, check whether the property is located in an area with sufficient infrastructure, such as utilities, transportation, and access to amenities. Other important considerations to make are whether the property is structurally sound and has all the necessary permits. Finally, it is advisable to plan for any additional costs associated with purchasing property, such as taxes, fees and any renovations that may be necessary," said one person in Antigua & Barbuda.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Antigua & Barbuda?

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Antigua & Barbuda. The government has implemented a number of incentives to encourage foreign investment in the country, including the ability to purchase and own real estate. Foreigners can purchase land and property in Antigua & Barbuda without any restrictions, and they are also eligible for tax exemptions and other benefits. Additionally, the government has established a streamlined process for foreigners to obtain the necessary permits and licenses to purchase and own property in the country," explained one person living in Antigua & Barbuda.

We asked foreigners in Antigua & Barbuda what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Antigua & Barbuda typically include appliances such as a refrigerator, oven, stove, and microwave. Additionally, some rental homes may also offer other conveniences such as a dishwasher and washer/dryer," explained one person living in Antigua & Barbuda.
