Additionally, you can also contact local real estate agents who specialize in rental properties in Jordan. They can provide you with more information about the rental market in Jordan and help you find a suitable place to live," explained one expat living in Jordan.

"The cost of housing in Jordan varies depending on the location and type of property. Generally, the cost of renting an apartment in Jordan is relatively affordable compared to other countries in the region. Prices for apartments in the capital city of Amman range from around $400 to $1,500 per month, while prices for villas and houses can range from $500 to $2,500 per month," remarked one member in Jordan.

Should I buy or rent a home in Jordan?

If you have not spent a lot of time in Jordan, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"Buying a home in Jordan can be a great investment, as the country has a stable economy and a growing real estate market. However, it is important to consider the cost of living in Jordan, as well as the availability of financing options, before making a decision. Renting a home in Jordan can be a more affordable option, as it allows you to live in the country without the long-term commitment of a mortgage. Additionally, renting can provide more flexibility if you are unsure of how long you will be living in Jordan. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Jordan should be based on your individual needs and financial situation," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Jordan.

What do I need to know when buying property in Jordan?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Jordan, they said:

"1. It is important to research the local market and understand the current trends in the area before making a purchase. 2. It is important to understand the legal requirements for purchasing property in Jordan, including the need for a valid passport and a valid residence permit. 3. It is important to understand the taxation system in Jordan and the associated costs of purchasing property. 4. It is important to understand the different types of property available in Jordan, such as residential, commercial, and agricultural. 5. It is important to understand the different types of financing available for purchasing property in Jordan, such as bank loans, mortgages, and other forms of financing. 6. It is important to understand the different types of insurance available for purchasing property in Jordan, such as fire, flood, and earthquake insurance. 7. It is important to understand the different types of maintenance and repair services available for purchasing property in Jordan, such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC services. 8. It is important to understand the different types of services available for managing and maintaining property in Jordan, such as property management companies and rental services," said one expat in Jordan.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Jordan?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Jordan, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Jordan. The Jordanian government has implemented a number of laws and regulations that allow foreign nationals to purchase and own real estate in the country. Foreigners are allowed to own land and buildings, as well as to lease land and buildings. However, they are not allowed to own agricultural land or to lease it for more than three years. Additionally, foreign nationals must obtain permission from the Ministry of Interior before they can purchase or lease property in Jordan," said one expat in Jordan.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Jordan what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In Jordan, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a dishwasher, microwave, and air conditioning unit. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide additional appliances such as a dryer, water heater, and water purifier," explained one foreigner living in Jordan.
