What do I need to know before moving to Arabian Ranches?
When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Arabian Ranches, they said:
"Arabian Ranches, located in Dubai, UAE, is a popular residential area for expats due to its luxurious lifestyle and high-quality amenities. Before moving to Arabian Ranches, expats should be aware of several important factors. Firstly, the cost of living in Arabian Ranches is relatively high, with rent for villas and townhouses being quite expensive. However, the quality of housing is exceptional, with most homes being spacious and well-maintained. The community is family-friendly, with several international schools, nurseries, and parks available for children. It's also pet-friendly, which is a rarity in Dubai. Arabian Ranches is a bit far from the city center, so having a car is almost a necessity. Public transportation is not as readily available, and taxis can be expensive for daily commuting. The community is predominantly English-speaking, making it easier for expats from English-speaking countries to settle in. However, learning some basic Arabic phrases can be beneficial. The area is known for its safety and security, with 24/7 security and gated communities. However, it's important to respect the local laws and customs, as the UAE has strict rules regarding behavior and dress code. The climate in the UAE is extremely hot, especially in the summer months. Homes in Arabian Ranches are equipped with air conditioning, but it's important to stay hydrated and avoid spending too much time outdoors during peak heat hours. Lastly, Arabian Ranches offers a variety of recreational activities, including golf courses, polo fields, and equestrian clubs. There are also several shopping centers, restaurants, and healthcare facilities within the community," explained one expat living in Arabian Ranches, the UAE.
How do I find a place to live in Arabian Ranches?
We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:
"Finding a place to live in Arabian Ranches, involves several steps. First, you need to determine your budget and the type of property you're interested in. Arabian Ranches offers a variety of options, from apartments to villas, so you should have a clear idea of what you're looking for. Next, you should research the area. Arabian Ranches is a large residential community located on the outskirts of Dubai, so you should familiarize yourself with the amenities, schools, and transportation options in the area. Once you have a clear idea of what you're looking for, you can start your property search. There are several online real estate portals that list properties for rent or sale in Arabian Ranches, such as Bayut, Property Finder, and Dubizzle. These websites allow you to filter properties by type, price, and location, making it easier to find properties that match your criteria. You can also hire a real estate agent to help you with your search. A local agent will have in-depth knowledge of the Arabian Ranches market and can help you find properties that may not be listed online. They can also assist you with the negotiation and purchase process. Once you've found a property you're interested in, you should arrange a viewing. This will give you a chance to inspect the property in person and ask any questions you may have. If you decide to proceed with the property, you'll need to negotiate the terms of the lease or purchase agreement. This will include the price, the length of the lease (if renting), and any other conditions. Finally, once the agreement is signed, you'll need to arrange for the transfer of utilities and move into your new home in Arabian Ranches," remarked one expat who made the move to Arabian Ranches.

If you are thinking about moving to Arabian Ranches, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:
"The average cost of housing in Arabian Ranches, varies greatly depending on the type and size of the property. For instance, a villa can range from moderately priced to extremely expensive. Should I buy or rent a home in Arabian Ranches?
If you have not spent a lot of time in Arabian Ranches, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:
"The decision to buy or rent a home in Arabian Ranches, largely depends on your personal circumstances, financial situation, and long-term plans. If you plan to stay in the UAE for a long time, buying a home could be a good investment. Arabian Ranches is a popular residential area with high-quality amenities, making it a desirable place to live. However, buying a home is a significant financial commitment. You need to consider the upfront costs, such as the down payment and closing costs, as well as ongoing costs like mortgage payments, property taxes, and maintenance costs. If you're not ready for this financial commitment, or if you're unsure about your long-term plans, renting might be a better option. Renting a home in Arabian Ranches gives you flexibility. It's easier to move if your circumstances change, and you don't have to worry about the costs of home maintenance and repairs. However, you won't build equity as you would if you were paying off a mortgage. In conclusion, both buying and renting have their pros and cons. It's important to carefully consider your financial situation and future plans before making a decision. Consulting with a real estate professional or financial advisor could also be beneficial," said one expat who made the move to Arabian Ranches.
What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Arabian Ranches?
We asked people in Arabian Ranches if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!:
"In Arabian Ranches, it's important to respect the local customs and traditions. Avoid public displays of affection, as they are considered inappropriate and can even be illegal. Dress modestly, especially in public places, covering your shoulders and knees. Do not consume alcohol in public places, as it is only allowed in licensed venues. Avoid using your left hand for eating or passing objects, as it is considered unclean. Do not take photographs of people, especially women, without their permission. It's also considered disrespectful to show the soles of your shoes or feet. During the holy month of Ramadan, refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours. Always ask permission before entering a mosque and remember to remove your shoes. Avoid making negative comments about the royal family or the government, as it is considered a serious offense. Also, avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics, religion, and sex. Remember that the weekend in UAE is Friday and Saturday, not Saturday and Sunday as in many Western countries. Lastly, always be punctual for meetings and appointments, as it is a sign of respect," commented one expat who made the move to Arabian Ranches.
