An adapter plug for UK sockets would also be useful. If you're moving permanently, consider bringing sentimental items like family photos or small keepsakes to make your new place feel like home. Lastly, don't forget to pack any prescription medications you may need, along with copies of your prescriptions. What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Stirling?
We asked people in Stirling if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!:
"In Stirling, it's important to avoid referring to the locals as English, as Scotland has a distinct cultural identity separate from England. It's also considered rude to mimic the Scottish accent, as it can come off as mocking. Avoid making negative comments about Scottish food, drink, or traditions, as this can be seen as disrespectful. Don't assume everyone drinks alcohol or likes whisky, as this is a stereotype. It's also considered impolite to interrupt someone while they're speaking, so try to wait your turn in conversations. Avoid discussing sensitive topics like religion and politics unless you're familiar with the person you're talking to. Lastly, remember to respect the local customs and traditions, as well as the natural environment," commented one expat who made the move to Stirling.
