Summary: Yerevan, Armenia is an attractive destination for expats due to its rich culture, vibrant nightlife, and affordable cost of living. The city is also known for its stunning architecture, including the iconic Mother Armenia statue and the Cascade complex. Expats will find a wide range of activities to enjoy, from exploring the city's many museums and galleries to taking in the stunning views from the top of Mount Ararat. Before moving to Yerevan, it is important to be aware of the local language and customs. Armenian is the official language, although English is widely spoken in the city. It is also important to be aware of the local laws and regulations, as well as the cost of living. Additionally, expats should be prepared for the cold winters and hot summers. Finally, it is important to research the local job market and housing options before making the move.

Should I buy or rent a home in Yerevan?

If you have not spent a lot of time in Yerevan, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"We rent a 3-Bdrm 2-BA (unusual) apartment with a roof garden in the center of the city for $700 a month," explained one expat living in Yerevan, Armenia.

Why do people move to Yerevan?

When we asked people why foreigners move to Yerevan, they responded:

"Yerevan is an attractive destination for expats due to its rich culture, vibrant nightlife, and affordable cost of living. The city is known for its stunning architecture, including the iconic Mother Armenia statue, and its many museums and galleries. The city also offers a wide range of outdoor activities, from hiking and skiing to exploring the nearby Lake Sevan. Yerevan is also home to a diverse population, with a mix of Armenians, Russians, and other ethnicities, making it a great place to meet new people and experience different cultures. Additionally, the city is well-connected to the rest of the world, with a modern airport and excellent public transportation. How are healthcare services Yerevan?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Yerevan, they replied:

"Healthcare services in Yerevan, are provided through a mix of public and private facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and specialized medical centers. The public healthcare system is funded by the government and offers basic medical services to citizens, while private facilities offer a wider range of services, often at a higher cost. The quality of healthcare in Yerevan varies, with some facilities being well-equipped and staffed by highly trained professionals, while others may lack resources and expertise. Many residents in Yerevan prefer to seek medical care at private facilities due to their reputation for better quality care and shorter waiting times. In recent years, the government has been working to improve the overall quality of healthcare in Yerevan by investing in infrastructure, equipment, and staff training. Additionally, there are several international clinics and hospitals in the city that cater to the needs of expatriates and tourists, offering a higher standard of care and English-speaking staff," said one expat living in Yerevan, Armenia.

What are medical services in Yerevan like?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Yerevan, they replied:

"Medical services in Yerevan, are generally considered to be of good quality, with a range of public and private healthcare facilities available. The city is home to several well-equipped hospitals and clinics, staffed by skilled medical professionals, many of whom have received training abroad. However, public hospitals may be crowded and have limited resources, while private facilities tend to offer better amenities and more personalized care. It is important to note that English-speaking staff may not always be available, and patients may need to arrange for translation services. Additionally, some specialized treatments or procedures may not be available in Yerevan, requiring patients to seek care abroad. It is recommended that visitors and expatriates have comprehensive medical insurance to cover the costs of private healthcare and potential medical evacuation," commented one expat living in Yerevan.
