If you have not spent a lot of time in Gurgaon, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"Buying a home in Gurgaon can be a great investment, as the city is rapidly growing and property values are increasing. However, it is important to consider the cost of buying a home in Gurgaon, as well as the cost of maintenance and upkeep. Renting a home in Gurgaon can be a more cost-effective option, as it allows you to enjoy the benefits of living in the city without the long-term commitment of buying a home. Additionally, renting a home in Gurgaon can provide you with more flexibility, as you can move to a different area or city if your circumstances change. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Gurgaon should be based on your individual needs and financial situation," replied a member in Gurgaon.

What should I pack when moving to Gurgaon?

We asked people living in Gurgaon to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded:

"When moving to Gurgaon, it is important to pack items that will help you adjust to the climate and culture. Pack lightweight, breathable clothing that is appropriate for the hot and humid climate. Bring a few items of clothing that can be layered for cooler evenings. Include a few items of traditional Indian clothing to show respect for the culture. Pack comfortable shoes for walking and exploring the city. Bring a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun. Include any necessary medications and toiletries. Don't forget to bring a few items to make your new home feel like home, such as pictures, books, and other personal items," commented one expat who made the move to Gurgaon.
