How are healthcare services Abidjan?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Abidjan, they replied:

"Healthcare services in Abidjan, are a mix of public and private facilities, with the public sector being the primary provider of healthcare. The city has several hospitals, clinics, and medical centers that offer a range of services, including general medicine, surgery, maternity care, and emergency services. However, the public healthcare system faces challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited resources, and a shortage of qualified medical professionals. As a result, many residents opt for private healthcare facilities, which tend to offer better quality services but at a higher cost. Additionally, there are numerous pharmacies throughout the city where residents can access medications and basic medical supplies. Despite these challenges, the government is working to improve healthcare services in Abidjan by investing in infrastructure, training medical professionals, and expanding access to essential healthcare services," said one expat.

What are medical services in Abidjan like?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Abidjan, they replied:

"Medical services in Abidjan, are a mix of public and private healthcare facilities. The city has several hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, but the quality of care can vary significantly. Public hospitals are often overcrowded and under-resourced, with limited access to advanced medical equipment and specialized care. Private clinics and hospitals generally offer better quality care, but they can be expensive and may require upfront payment. Medical staff in Abidjan may have limited English proficiency, and it is advisable for foreigners to seek care at facilities that cater to expatriates. It is also recommended to have comprehensive medical insurance and consider medical evacuation coverage, as some complex medical cases may require treatment outside of the country," said one expat.
