"Before moving to Hawalli, expats should be aware that the official language is Arabic, although English is widely spoken. It is important to familiarize oneself with the local customs and culture, as well as the laws and regulations of the country. Expats should also be aware that Kuwait is a Muslim country and that Islamic values and traditions are respected. Additionally, expats should be aware that the climate in Kuwait is hot and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 50°C in the summer months. Finally, expats should be aware that the cost of living in Kuwait is relatively high, and that it is important to budget accordingly," remarked one expat in Hawalli, Kuwait.

How do I find a place to live in Hawalli?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Hawalli is to search online for rental listings. There are many websites that offer listings of apartments, villas, and other types of housing in the area. Additionally, you can also search for real estate agents in Hawalli who specialize in helping people find a place to live. You can also ask friends and family who live in the area for recommendations. "Buying a home in Hawalli is a great option for those looking to settle down in the area. The city offers a variety of housing options, from luxury apartments to villas, and the cost of living is relatively low. Renting is also an option, and can be a great way to get to know the area before committing to a purchase. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent should be based on your individual needs and budget," commented one expat who made the move to Hawalli.

What should I pack when moving to Hawalli?

We asked people living in Hawalli to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded:

"When moving to Hawalli, it is important to pack items that will help you adjust to the climate and culture. Pack light, breathable clothing that will keep you cool in the hot, humid climate. Bring a few items of formal clothing for special occasions. Make sure to bring a good supply of sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats to protect yourself from the sun. Bring a few items of traditional clothing to show respect for the local culture. Bring a few books, movies, and music to help you adjust to the new environment. Finally, make sure to bring any necessary documents and paperwork to ensure a smooth transition," replied a member in Hawalli.

What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Hawalli?

We asked people in Hawalli if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!:

"In Hawalli, it is important to be respectful of local customs and traditions. It is considered impolite to show public displays of affection, such as kissing or hugging, as this is not accepted in the local culture. It is also important to dress modestly, as revealing clothing is not appropriate. Additionally, it is important to be aware of the local religious customs, such as refraining from eating, drinking, or smoking in public during Ramadan. Finally, it is important to be respectful of the local language, and to avoid using profanity or offensive language," replied a member in Hawalli.
