"Expats can often find adjusting to a new culture and language to be one of the most challenging aspects of relocating. Settling into a new environment and making local connections can also be difficult. Being away from family and familiar friends and customs can be hard, and establishing new routines can present its own set of challenges. Finding suitable housing and employment can be additional stressors for expats upon relocating," explained one expat living in Luxembourg, Luxembourg.

"If you are planning to stay in Luxembourg for a while, the necessary residency documents and visas you will require depend on where you are from. For citizens of the European Union or the European Economic Area, a valid passport or ID card will be sufficient for 90 days of stay. For stays beyond 90 days, you will need a valid residence permit issued by the competent Luxembourgish authority. Citizens from outside the EU and EEA will need to apply for a long-term visa from the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Depending on the purpose and duration of your stay, you may need to apply for a business visa, student visa, work permit, or a temporary residence permit," said one person in Luxembourg.

What are the pros and cons of living in Luxembourg?

"Expats and digital nomads generally like living in Luxembourg for its high standard of living, excellent healthcare system, and efficient public transportation. They appreciate the multilingual environment, with many people speaking English, French, and German, which makes it easier for them to communicate and integrate. Luxembourg's central location in Europe is also a big plus, as it allows for easy travel to neighboring countries. On the other hand, some expats and digital nomads may dislike the high cost of living in Luxembourg, particularly when it comes to housing and dining out. The small size of the country and limited entertainment options can also be a downside for those who crave a more vibrant and diverse social scene. Additionally, the weather in Luxembourg can be unpredictable, with frequent rain and overcast skies, which may not be appealing to everyone. Finally, while the job market is strong in certain sectors, it can be competitive, and some expats may struggle to find suitable employment opportunities," said a member in Luxembourg.
