What are the pros and cons of living in Kuala Lumpur?

"Expats and digital nomads generally like living in Kuala Lumpur, for several reasons. They appreciate the low cost of living, which allows them to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank. The city offers a wide variety of affordable housing options, from modern condominiums to traditional houses. The local cuisine is another major draw, with a diverse range of delicious and inexpensive food options available at street stalls, cafes, and restaurants. The city's efficient public transportation system, including the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and monorail, makes it easy to get around. Kuala Lumpur is also known for its friendly and welcoming locals, who often speak English, making it easier for expats to communicate and integrate into the community. The city's central location within Southeast Asia allows for easy travel to nearby countries, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. However, there are some aspects of living in Kuala Lumpur that expats and digital nomads may dislike. The city's hot and humid climate can be uncomfortable, especially for those not used to tropical weather. Air pollution and traffic congestion are also common issues, which can negatively impact the quality of life. The city's fast-paced development has led to a loss of green spaces, which some may find disappointing. Additionally, while English is widely spoken, expats may still experience language barriers when dealing with government agencies or in more rural areas. Finally, some expats may find it challenging to navigate the cultural differences and local customs, which can lead to feelings of isolation or difficulty in building a social network," said one foreigner in Kuala Lumpur.
