What do people appreciate most about the culture in Todos Santos?
"Expats in Todos Santos appreciate the laid-back vibe of the small town. Locals are friendly and hospitable and there is a strong sense of community. People are warm, welcoming and open to sharing the culture and customs of the area with visitors, making it easy to fit in and feel at home. The townsfolk are especially proud of their local art, music, and cuisine, which often combine traditional Mexican elements with more modern influences and sensibilities. The stunning natural beauty of the region cannot be understated, with mountains, beaches, and deserts all waiting to be explored. Todos Santos is a special place and its unique atmosphere keeps expats coming back year after year," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Todos Santos.
What do people find most challenging about the culture in Todos Santos?
"Adapting to the language barrier can be a challenge for expats in Todos Santos. Many locals only speak Spanish, so understanding urban and rural slang can be difficult to learn. Additionally, the cultural norms and way of living can also be unfamiliar, as Todos Santos is a small, tight-knit coastal town with strong traditions, making it difficult for outsiders to become fully accepted into the community. Furthermore, the fact that Todos Santos is a tourist town and the economy is reliant upon foreign visitors makes the cost of living slightly more expensive than other Mexican cities," said one expat who made the move to Todos Santos.
What residency documents or visas did I need if I will be in Todos Santos for a while?
"If I am staying in Todos Santos for a period of time, I would need to apply for a valid tourist visa. Depending on the duration of my stay, this visa could be valid for either six months (tourist card or FMT) or three months (tourist visa). Additionally, I would need to complete a Residente Temporal form upon arrival, which is a form of Mexican temporary residency. This document will allow me to stay in Mexico for up to four years and can be extended after that. I may also need to provide documentation such as a valid passport, a birth certificate, photographs, proof of income, and proof of legal residency in Mexico," said one expat who made the move to Todos Santos.
