What advice do overseas retirees have for others considering retiring abroad?

"Overseas retirees advise others planning to retire abroad to research extensively before committing to a move. This should include considering the language, culture, health care, safety, and cost of living of the country in question. It is also important to make sure the country is visa-friendly if the plan is to remain for a longer period of time. When researching a country, speaking to both expats living there and natives can be a great way to gain insight. Don't forget to plan for the possibility of repatriation in the event of an emergency. Finally, living abroad can be a great experience as long as you are prepared for whatever may come. Embrace the local culture, make new friends and don't be anxious about making mistakes," explained one retiree living in Da Nang.

What are the most challenging aspects of retiring in Da Nang?

"One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Da Nang is the language barrier. Although English is becoming more widely spoken, many locals still do not speak it, making it difficult to communicate with them. Additionally, the cost of living in Da Nang is relatively high compared to other parts of Vietnam, making it difficult to live on a fixed income. Furthermore, the healthcare system in Da Nang is not as advanced as in other countries, making it difficult to access quality medical care. Finally, the cultural differences between Vietnam and other countries can be difficult to adjust to, making it difficult to feel at home in Da Nang," said a person in Da Nang.
