Lastly, it is important to understand the closing costs associated with the purchase, as well as any potential financing options," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Boston.

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Boston, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Boston. There are no restrictions on foreign ownership of real estate in the state of Massachusetts. However, foreign buyers may need to obtain a visa or other documentation in order to purchase property in the United States. Additionally, foreign buyers may need to pay taxes on any income generated from the property, such as rental income," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Boston.

We asked foreigners in Boston what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Boston typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. Some properties may also include a microwave, garbage disposal, and air conditioning," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Boston.
