"I lucked out with a bit of alone research. I found a listing on a Belizean rental site. The apt ended up being in the suburb area, for a 1 bedroom that ended up costing the same price as rent in the center of town and other parts of town usually where the locals live," explained one expat living in San Pedro, Belize.

What is a typical expat home or apartment like in The Cayes?
"1 bedroom apt. Washer/Dryer, Internet. A couple of steps away from the beach. Living on an island [Ambergris Caye], you are NEVER to far from the beach. Yes, several expats live in the suburb type area," said one person in San Pedro.
"Expat homes and apartments in The Cayes are typically modern and comfortable, with air conditioning, full kitchens, and plenty of outdoor space. Many homes have private pools and outdoor patios, perfect for entertaining or relaxing in the warm Caribbean climate. Expat homes in The Cayes are often located in gated communities, providing a sense of security and privacy. Many homes also have access to amenities such as a gym, tennis courts, and a clubhouse," said one expat who made the move to The Cayes.

"Lower. Average cost with some amenities is $400 US, I also have heard that for that price or a little more you can rent a whole house instead," said one expat who made the move to San Pedro.

Generally, the cost of a one-bedroom apartment in The Cayes is around $500 to $800 per month, while a three-bedroom house can cost up to $1,500 per month. "Rental properties in The Cayes typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. Other common appliances include a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher. Depending on the property, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and other amenities may also be included," remarked one foreigner who made the move to The Cayes.
"Typically the kitchen is fully setup, the appliances are included, washer and dryer are included," explained one person living in San Pedro, Belize.
