When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Seattle, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Seattle. There are no restrictions on foreign ownership of real estate in the state of Washington. However, foreign buyers may be subject to additional taxes and fees, such as the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA) and the Non-Resident Real Estate Excise Tax (REET). Additionally, foreign buyers may need to obtain a visa or other documentation in order to purchase property in the United States," said one foreigner living in Seattle, the United States.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Seattle what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Seattle typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. Some properties may also include a microwave, garbage disposal, and air conditioning," said one expat in Seattle.
