Are foreigners allowed to own property in Brasilia?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Brasilia, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Brasilia. However, there are certain restrictions and requirements that must be met. Foreigners must obtain a tax registration number, known as CPF, from the Brazilian Federal Revenue. Additionally, they must have a legal representative in Brazil, usually a lawyer, to handle the property registration process. It is also important to note that there are limitations on owning properties in rural areas or near national borders for non-Brazilian citizens. Despite these restrictions, many foreigners successfully purchase and own property in Brazil, including in Brasilia," explained one foreigner living in Brasilia, Brazil.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Brasilia what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In a rental property in Brasilia, tenants can typically expect to find a refrigerator, stove, oven, washing machine, and dryer. Additionally, some properties may include a dishwasher, microwave, and other small kitchen appliances," explained one expat in Brasilia.
