Renting a home in Savusavu can be a great option for those who are looking for a more flexible living situation, as it allows you to enjoy the area without the commitment of a long-term purchase. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Savusavu should be based on your individual needs and budget," said one person in Savusavu.

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Savusavu, they said:

"When buying property in Savusavu, it is important to research the local market and familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations. It is also important to understand the local customs and culture, as well as the local infrastructure and services available. It is also important to consider the cost of living in the area, as well as the availability of amenities such as schools, hospitals, and transportation. Additionally, it is important to consider the potential for natural disasters, such as cyclones, and the availability of insurance to protect your investment. Finally, it is important to work with a reputable real estate agent or lawyer to ensure that the purchase process is conducted legally and ethically," said one in Savusavu.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Savusavu?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Savusavu, they said...

"Foreigners are allowed to own property in Savusavu, but there are certain restrictions and regulations in place. Non-residents can purchase freehold land, which is limited in availability, or leasehold land, which is more common. Foreigners are required to obtain approval from the Fiji Land Department and meet certain investment criteria, such as a minimum investment amount. Additionally, non-residents are not allowed to purchase land within town boundaries or land designated as Native Land. Despite these restrictions, many foreigners have successfully purchased property in Savusavu and other parts of Fiji for residential or investment purposes," explained one expat in Savusavu.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Savusavu what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Savusavu typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a microwave, dishwasher, and air conditioning unit. Depending on the property, some may also include a clothes dryer," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Savusavu.
