"The cost of housing in Lyon varies greatly depending on the type of residence and its location. Generally, apartments in Lyon can range from around 850 euros for a one-bedroom apartment to 2,000 euros for a three-bedroom apartment in the city center. Conversely, outside of the city center, apartment prices can range from 600 euros for a one-bedroom to 1,200 euros for a three-bedroom apartment. Additionally, houses in Lyon usually begin at about 1,600 euros for a two-bedroom house and can range up to 3,400 euros or more for larger houses," said one expat in Lyon, France.

"This decision ultimately depends on a variety of factors, such as your budget, lifestyle, and timeframe. It is important to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision, as both choices have their advantages and drawbacks. When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Lyon, they said:

Finally, it is important to discuss any insurance needs with a local agent to ensure proper coverage," said one expat in Lyon.

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Lyon, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Lyon. Non-residents of France are able to purchase property in the same way as French citizens, and there are no restrictions on foreign ownership. "Rental properties in Lyon typically come equipped with essential household appliances such as a stove, refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer. Other amenities may include a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Furnishings such as beds and other furniture may also be provided depending on the agreement between the tenant and the landlord," explained one foreigner living in Lyon, France.
