Are foreigners allowed to own property in Bogor?

"Foreigners are allowed to own property in Bogor, but with certain restrictions and conditions. In Indonesia, foreigners cannot directly own freehold land titles (Hak Milik). Instead, they can acquire property through leasehold (Hak Pakai) or right-to-use titles, which grant them the right to use the land for a specific period, usually up to 80 years. This includes an initial lease period of 30 years, with an option to extend for another 20 years and a further 30 years after that. Foreigners can also own apartments or condominiums through strata titles, as long as the building has a proper permit and the foreigner holds a valid residence permit in Indonesia. It is essential for foreigners to consult with a local legal expert to ensure compliance with Indonesian property laws and regulations when purchasing property in Bogor or any other part of Indonesia," wrote one expat who made the move to Bogor.
