Additionally, you can contact local real estate agents who specialize in rental properties in the area. You can also look for rental postings in local newspapers and on bulletin boards in the city. Finally, you can ask friends and family who live in Parma if they know of any available rental properties," said one person in Parma.

"We were desperate as we couldn't find anything to fit our needs so we just took the one we could find. It is not a great fit for us and we have continued to search for another apartment to no avail. Italy is a place where you have to know someone and we are just now finding those connections after 2 years," said one expat who made the move to Parma.

What is the average cost of housing in Parma?

If you are thinking about moving to Parma, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The cost of housing in Parma can vary depending on the size and location of the property. Generally, the average cost of a one-bedroom apartment in the city center is around €700-800 per month, while a two-bedroom apartment can cost around €900-1000 per month. Outside of the city center, the cost of housing can be significantly lower," explained one person living in Parma, Italy.

Renting can be a great way to explore the city and get to know the area before making a long-term commitment," said one expat who made the move to Parma.

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Parma, they said:

"When buying property in Parma, it is important to research the local market and understand the legal requirements for purchasing property in the country. It is also important to be aware of the taxes and fees associated with buying property in Italy, such as the registration tax, the mortgage tax, and the transfer tax. Additionally, it is important to be aware of the local zoning laws and regulations, as well as any restrictions on foreign ownership of property. Finally, it is important to work with a qualified real estate agent who is familiar with the local market and can help you navigate the process of buying property in Parma," explained one person living in Parma, Italy.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Parma?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Parma, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Parma. According to Italian law, non-EU citizens are allowed to purchase property in Italy, provided they obtain a permit from the Italian Ministry of Interior. We asked foreigners in Parma what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Parma typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Some properties may also include a dishwasher, microwave, and other small kitchen appliances. Additionally, some properties may include air conditioning, heating, and other amenities," wrote one expat who made the move to Parma.
