What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Guadalajara?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Guadalajara about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"It is important to research hospitals in the area and select one that meets your needs and expectations. Make sure to bring copies of your passport and visa to all doctor appointments. Ensure that you select a doctor who is comfortable discussing any potential complications in both English and Spanish. Additionally, invest in a good private health insurance plan that covers pregnancy and delivery. It is also recommended to familiarize yourself with the local laws relating to registration, documentation, and parental rights. Finally, plan to have support during the delivery process, such as hiring a doula who can assist you with the language and cultural differences of the hospital," commented one expat who made the move to Guadalajara, Mexico.
