It's also considered rude to interrupt someone while they're speaking, so wait for your turn to talk. In Ecuador, punctuality is not as strictly observed as in some other countries, so don't be offended if someone is late for a meeting or appointment. Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics, religion, or personal finances unless you know the person well. When dining, it's polite to finish all the food on your plate as leaving food can be seen as wasteful or ungrateful. It's also important to dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites or rural areas.
