What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Abidjan. They wrote...
"Expats in Abidjan often find the language barrier to be one of the most challenging aspects of the local culture. Additionally, the city's rapid growth and development can make it difficult to navigate and find one's way around. Furthermore, the local customs and traditions can be difficult to understand and adjust to, especially for those coming from different cultural backgrounds. Finally, the cost of living in Abidjan can be quite high, making it difficult for expats to find affordable housing and other necessities," wrote a member who made the move to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

"Again, seeing the filth in the streets, and the deteriorating infrastructure. So many wonderful buildings left unfinished or abandoned. I have come to appreciate this place in a very short time, and I find myself wanting very much for it to be reborn as the vibrant city it once was," explained one expat living in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
