"If you plan to stay in Chiang Mai for an extended period of time, you will need to obtain a Non-Immigrant Visa from the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country. Once you have obtained the visa, you will need to register with the local Immigration Office in Chiang Mai and obtain a Certificate of Residence. You will also need to renew your visa and Certificate of Residence every 90 days," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
"Extremely easy. There is no actual "residency" It is an extension of stay for 1 year, reporting to immigration every 90 days," commented one expat who made the move to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
