What are healthcare services like in Uvita?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Uvita. They wrote...
"Uvita, offers a range of healthcare services for both residents and visitors. The town has a local clinic, known as an EBAIS, which is part of the country's public healthcare system. This clinic provides basic medical services, including general consultations, vaccinations, and minor emergency care. For more serious conditions, patients may need to travel to a larger city, such as San Isidro or San Jose, where there are larger hospitals and specialized medical facilities. Private healthcare is also available in Uvita, with several private doctors and clinics operating in the area. These private providers often offer a wider range of services than the public clinic, and may also have shorter wait times. However, they are also typically more expensive. Pharmacies are readily available in Uvita, and they carry a wide range of medications. Many medications that would require a prescription in other countries can be purchased over the counter in Costa Rica. Dental care is also available in Uvita, with several dentists operating in the town. Overall, while Uvita's healthcare services may not be as extensive as those in larger cities, they are generally considered to be good quality, particularly for a town of its size," commented one expat who made the move to Uvita, Costa Rica.
