"Housing costs are astronomically higher in HK than in the USA. I can't really say what the average cost is, as there is a large range depending on the neighborhood and size of the apartment. But it is much higher even than, for example, NYC. Most companies will subsidize housing, at least partially, even if you are a local hire," remarked another expat in Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
"The cost of housing in Hong Kong is generally high, with prices varying depending on the location and type of property. On average, a one-bedroom apartment in the city centre can cost around HK$20,000 per month, while a three-bedroom apartment in the suburbs can cost around HK$15,000 per month. Prices for larger properties can be significantly higher," said a member in Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
