As a foreigner living in Sharjah, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Sharjah if they have access to public healthcare in Sharjah. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Sharjah, you will have access to public healthcare, but you will need to apply for a health card from the Ministry of Health and Prevention. Public healthcare in the UAE is generally of high quality, with well-equipped hospitals and clinics. However, it is important to note that public healthcare services may prioritize UAE nationals, and waiting times for non-emergency treatments can be longer for expatriates. Many foreigners in the UAE opt for private healthcare, which offers a wider range of services and shorter waiting times. It is recommended to have comprehensive health insurance to cover the costs of private healthcare," commented one expat who made the move to Sharjah, the UAE.
