As a foreigner living in Algiers, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Algiers if they have access to public healthcare in Algiers. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Algiers, you may have access to public healthcare, but it is important to note that the quality and availability of services can vary. Public healthcare in Algeria is generally considered to be of lower quality compared to private healthcare facilities. The public healthcare system can be overcrowded, and there may be long waiting times for appointments and treatments. Additionally, there might be a language barrier, as not all medical staff may be fluent in English or other foreign languages. It is recommended for foreigners to have private health insurance to ensure access to better quality healthcare services and private hospitals," explained one expat living in Algiers, Algeria.
