We asked expat moms who gave birth in Panama about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"It is important to research your hospital and doctor options as this could have an impact on the birth experience. Make sure you ask for recommendations from other expats and locals who have had a birth in Panama to get an unbiased view. Register at your chosen hospital in good time and ascertain which documents you need to bring to your appointments. Obtain good travel and health insurance to cover any costs or unexpected medical care needs should you need it. Speak to your midwife or doctor in advance to ask about the options for pain relief during labor and the implications for both you and your baby. Lastly, don't forget to take some moment for yourself and enjoy the experience of becoming a parent," said a member in Panama.
