We asked expats what residency documents or visas they need when settling in France. They wrote...

"As amember of the EU there were no restrictions on moving here but we had to ensure we brought all our documentations with us, (authorised copies of birth, marriage, divorce, christneing certificates etc.) and anything else that could be needed," commented one expat who made the move to Aude and Herault Departments, France.

"If you plan to stay in France for an extended period of time, you will need to apply for a long-term residency visa, also known as carte de séjour. You will need to provide proof of identity, valid passport, proof of residence, health insurance, and other documents, depending on the purpose of your stay. Additionally, you may also need to meet other requirements depending on your situation," remarked another expat in France.
