We asked expats what residency documents or visas they need when settling in Philippines. They wrote...

"If you plan to be in the Philippines for an extended period of time, you will need to apply for a Temporary Residence Visa (TRV). Depending on the length of your stay, you may also need to apply for a Special Resident Retiree's Visa (SRRV). You will need to provide proof of identity and passport, a passport-size photograph, and a bank certificate of deposit (CD) to the Philippine embassy or consulate in your home country to start the visa application process," said a member in Philippines.

"As far as the visa is concerned I am in the process of applying for a Permanent resident visa. No cost if you do it yourself . I used a service which makes it easy. I handled all the paperwork to get my wife to the states and her naturalized citizenship. I didn't have the patience to handle the visa work here. I used JRC Consultancy," remarked another expat who made the move to San Carlos City, Philippines.
