If you have not spent a lot of time in United States, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision...

"When deciding whether to buy or rent a home in the United States, there are a few important considerations to keep in mind. Firstly, it's important to examine your financial situation to determine which option is most suited to your resources. Typically, if you can afford it, buying a home is the recommended path, as you can build equity and your monthly payments may be lower than those of a rental. However, if your location or job situation is likely to change in the near future, it may be better to rent, as it can provide more flexibility. Additionally, if you're not ready to commit to the longer-term responsibility of home ownership, renting may be the ideal option. Ultimately, the decision should be tailored to your unique circumstances," explained one expat living in United States.
