Should I buy or rent a home in Australia?
If you have not spent a lot of time in Australia, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision...
"Buying a home in Australia is typically recommended if you are planning on staying in the country for more than two years and if you feel financially stable enough to commit to a mortgage. Renting gives you the flexibility of not having to worry about the costs, repairs and upkeep of being a homeowner. However, you may not be able to build any equity in the property if you decide to rent. It really comes down to a personal choice and the financial ability to back up that decision," said another expat in Australia.
