More opportunities are available to Swedish citizens than foreign nationals, in part, due to the socialist government. In Uppsala, specifically, the food and garment industry as well as sundry stores are available to the general public (for jobs). Most people who obtain a college degree find careers elsewhere in Sweden, on the average. Most people use the newspapers or television to find new jobs," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Uppsala, Sweden.

"Foreigners often have jobs in Sweden in a variety of industries, such as hospitality, retail, construction, and manufacturing. They may also work in the service industry, such as in restaurants, hotels, and other customer service roles. Additionally, many foreigners work in the IT sector, as well as in finance and accounting," commented one expat who made the move to Sweden.
