"Everything I took in the States is available here just not always in the same dosages. All are over the counter and without a prescription, but a prescription will get you a nice discount. All are equal or less than what I paid in the US in co-pay but without the cost of the prescription plan," explained one expat living in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

"Yes, common prescription medications are available in Uruguay. Most medications can be purchased at pharmacies without a prescription, although some require a prescription from a doctor. The Uruguayan government also provides free medications to those who cannot afford them. In addition, many international pharmaceutical companies have offices in Uruguay, making it easy to access medications from abroad," said another expat in Uruguay.
