Are foreigners allowed to own property in Liberia?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Liberia if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Liberia. The Land Rights Act of 2009 grants foreign investors the right to own land in Liberia, provided they obtain the necessary permits and licenses from the government. Foreigners may also purchase property through a Liberian corporation or a Liberian citizen who is acting as a trustee. However, the government does not allow foreigners to own land in certain areas, such as near the coast or in areas of strategic importance," explained one expat living in Liberia.
